Overview
On May 30, Dumbo Drop 2025 filled the skies over Brooklyn with thousands of parachuting toy elephants, delighting crowds gathered on Washington Street. The event featured two drops — at 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM — and raised funds for P.S. 307 Elementary and The Dock Street Middle School. Tickets started at $15 and included a collectible elephant and sweepstakes entry. A free block party in the DUMBO Archway added to the celebration, with live music, food vendors, a Kids Zone, and a beer garden. This year’s parachutes, designed by artist Zeph Farmby, brought bold color and creativity to the airborne spectacle. The event continues to blend art, joy, and community to support Brooklyn’s public schools.

What It Is
In its ninth year, the Dumbo Drop 2025 features thousands of toy elephants parachuting from rooftops onto Washington Street, each with a custom parachute designed by local artist Zeph Farmby. This fundraising event transforms Brooklyn’s iconic street into a vibrant display of art, community, and support for local schools.
When & Where
On Friday, May 30, 2025, two toy elephant parachute drops occur at 5:00 PM (gates open 3:30 PM) and 7:00 PM (gates open 6:00 PM) on car-free Washington Street between Front and Water Streets, framed by the Manhattan Bridge.
Why It Matters
Each parachuting elephant raises funds, with all ticket proceeds supporting educational programs at P.S. 307 Elementary and The Dock Street Middle School, two Title I public schools serving Dumbo and Vinegar Hill’s diverse communities.
Tickets & Elephants
Tickets, starting at $15 for ages 2+, include a souvenir toy elephant, access to the ticketed viewing area (drops not visible from the block party), and entry into a sweepstakes for prizes. Tickets sell out quickly due to the event’s unique spectacle and high community demand.
The Block Party
From 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, the Dumbo Archway hosts a free, public block party with over 30 children’s activities, including face painting, crafts, a bouncy slide, gymnastics, science experiments, and a dance party led by Life Time trainers.
Food & Drink
The Taste of Dumbo food row features local vendors like Juliana’s Pizza and Time Out Market, while a Brooklyn Flea beer garden offers drinks for adults.
Prizes & Play
Each toy elephant participates in a sweepstakes, with those landing closest to a target winning prizes like a six-month Life Time gym membership, dining vouchers for Almondine Bakery, or local experience packages. No purchase is required for sweepstakes entry (deadline: May 29, 2025, 8:00 PM EST).
For the Kids
Targeting children ages 1 to 10, the event includes live music by The Jelly, performances by the Brooklyn Diamonds dance squad, and themed photo ops, ensuring family-friendly fun.
Bigger Than a Block Party
The Dumbo Drop combines local art through Farmby’s parachute designs, community engagement via free and ticketed events, and direct funding for educational programs, strengthening Dumbo’s public schools and fostering neighborhood unity.
