On Thursday and Friday, long-distance rides test endurance with routes ending in Times Square and Coney Island. Saturday and Sunday, Pier 76 hosts games, basketball, relays, demonstrations, and a performance by the famed King Charles Troupe.

The Bindlestiff Family Cirkus presents the 16th Annual New York City Unicycle Festival, August 28–31, 2025. Since 2010, UniFest has defined Labor Day Weekend in New York with free, open, and inclusive celebrations. The festival welcomes every rider and spectator, uniting diverse communities on a shared stage. It blends athletic skill, artistic performance, and cultural expression into a singular experience. UniFest celebrates unicycling as both sport and art, honoring its traditions and innovations alike. Produced by Bindlestiff Family Variety Arts, Inc., a cultural mainstay since 1995, it thrives on sponsor and volunteer support. Each year, UniFest gathers recreational riders, professionals, off-road adventurers, inventors, and enthusiasts.

Daily Schedule & Routes

  • Thursday, August 28 begins with a 10-mile ride from Pier A in Battery Park City. Riders follow the Hudson River Greenway, circle Central Park, then descend Broadway to Times Square. The route offers stunning views and iconic photo stops.
  • Friday, August 29 celebrates Brooklyn Unicycle Day with the festival’s longest ride. The 13-mile journey begins at City Hall, crosses the Brooklyn Bridge, and continues through Downtown Brooklyn. Riders pause in Prospect Park before gliding down Ocean Parkway to Coney Island. Tradition calls for a celebratory ride on the Wonder Wheel. This route remains a cornerstone of the festival.
  • Saturday and Sunday, August 30–31, shift the focus to Pier 76 at Hudson River Park. Pier 76 now anchors the festival’s family-friendly atmosphere. From Noon to 5 p.m., the pier becomes a unicycling hub. Visitors enjoy learn-to-ride sessions, basketball, games, relays, demonstrations, and a featured show by the King Charles Troupe. 

Safety & Participation

Every rider must complete the 2025 UniFest Waiver before participating. Organizers stress safety, strongly encouraging helmets and responsible practices. Participants should bring refillable water bottles and snacks to stay energized. Attendance is at each rider’s own risk, underscoring responsibility alongside fun.
